You should buy new mascara every 2-3 months, because every time you open it, you're exposing it to air, which wrecks it. Plus, think of all the stuff on your lashes that you recontaminate the wand with.


But - who can afford that? Not me. I buy new stuff 6 months or so.





A GREAT TIP: To make your mascara life last longer, heat up a cup of water in the microwave %26amp; let the tube (closed tight) sit in the water for a few minutes. It will loosen on the inside and not be as clumpy. Just like new! Don't forget to NEVER add water to the formula.

For hygenic purposes, replace mascara every 3-4 mos. One the bottle is open it is exposed to air which dries it out and once it touches your lashes it has bacteria which grows in the tube. Even if you don't use it daily it should be thrown out after no more than 4 mos. Eyeliner and mascara are the two cosmetics that need to be changed frequently, or you may get eye infections. Never let anyone else borrow your mascara. Throw it away if it gets flaky, the texture changes, or it smells funky before 3 mos. Never ';pump'; the mascara wand (it pushes air into the bottle) and be sure to close TIGHTLY.





Other makeup can go longer. Most liquids or creams (shadow, blush, foundation, etc) can go 6-18 mos. Powders can go 2-3 years.
The experts say that you should change out your mascara and eyeliners at least every three months. If you have an eye infection in which time you use these make up items, one you should not use them then, but if you do, then you need to get new as soon as possible.
Every 3 months is what the pro's recommend, if you use it daily it should dry up by then anyways!


Make sure not to pump the wand but to twirl it to stop it drying out though =] x
every 6 months at the least,or if it dries out in less than 6 months,replace it then.if you dont you can get a naaasty eye infection...to play safe i get a new one at least every 3 months :)
Well in all the magazines i read, some say 3 and some say 6 months. So i would go in between these or jut until it begins to flake and dry out. :)
I never just use one mascara. I have 12 different ones so..I usually use a different one depending on what look I want. When it starts smelling icky I throw it away.

all make up has a best before date on the package somewhere. it is displayed as a picture often an opened tub with 6 mths or 12mths next to it.
