Does waterproof mascara work better?

I know it's better in the sense that it won't run down your face if you cry or go in the water, but are there other benefits to waterproof mascara or does the regular one work just as well?Does waterproof mascara work better?
I have the cover girl lash blast in waterproof an it's amazing. it doesn't smear, it thickens, it darkens and lengthens every time you re coat...it takes a good day or two to completely come off even if you shower during the time you wear it. strong stuff. Waterproof mascara generally don't smear as much and can last through those long work days. However, once you go to take it off, it can become quite a hassle. You are going to have to buy eye makeup remover to go along with it or else you will risk getting raccoon eyes (haha). If you don't feel like spending the extra bucks for eye makeup remover, or you aren't planning on swimming anytime soon, don't get it. Its doesn't make that much of a difference.
I've found that it's not as thickening as other mascaras. Also it DOES come off in the water if you're in it too long (like if you go swimming). It's not waterPROOF, it's just water RESISTANT.
mascara is mascara just like anything else they say it is water proof,but how do you think you wash it off come on.
